Well, here we are in the middle of the week. The snow is gone. The weather is warming. I can wear my awesome summer shoes. The grass is green, and the sky is blue. So many things to be grateful for today. I'm even grateful that we are still doing school. So let's get started.

I love to go exploring. I love to see new places. Summer is a great time to explore. Where do you like to explore? Is there a new place you would like to go? You can read all about places to explore at Epic! Just today I read about Yellowstone National Park and Dry Tortugas National Park. (Tortuga means turtle - AWESOME!) 

Watch this video and then, make a Flipgrid video sharing where you would like to explore. The flipgrid is grant4807. (Remember your ID is your initials in capital letters - mine is RG.)

Cinco de Mayo - and Taco Tuesday

It's Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday. Do you like tacos? I love them, almost as much as I love pizza. Today's work will be very quick. 

Remember to practice your spelling words. You can at Spelling City, if you would like. We will have a test on Friday.

This week's story is so good. It is all about a mysterious animal that is found. You can read it at ThinkCentral. I think a frog's life cycle is amazing. You already know that they start out as eggs, and then become tadpoles, and then become frogs. But, did you know that frogs make all kinds of sounds? Here is a Mystery Science all about the ribbit of frogs. There are many fun activities at the end of the lesson.

Have you seen Star Wars? The first Star Wars movie came out when I was your age. I didn't see them then. I saw them when I got older. I LOVED them. I still do. Do you like them? Why am I talking about Star Wars? Because, today is May the 4th.

 Good morning! Today's work is fun. I hope you are doing well with three-digit addition and subtraction. I'm going to include a video that you can watch if you need a little extra help.

I was working in my yard when I heard a momma robin bird start chirping at me. (I love robins. Can you guess why?) She was NOT happy I was close to her because she was protecting her eggs in a nest. It is way too high for me to even see. I found a Mystery Science about Why Birds Lay Eggs in the Spring. I think you will really like it. Then you can go to Art Hub to learn to draw a robin. You may want to draw a nest with eggs. Or you can also draw a baby bird in a nest. I'd love to see your pictures.

Wednesday - A Bit Wacky for Me

Things have not gone smoothly today. I couldn't find my shoe, and I always put my shoes away. I brushed my teeth and slipped and cut my mouth. Then I had a little mishap with the video. You will see that. Some days are just not as easy as others.

This week I saw a show on PBS that made me so excited. Have you seen the show Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum? It is based upon the Ordinary People that Change the World Books. So, I decided to read one to  you and then you can click above to watch the show all about it. Check it out. I think you will love it!

Tiptoe Tuesday

When I was a kid, probably around 3rd grade, we had names for each day of the school week. Monday was "Mellow Monday." Tuesday was "Tiptoe Tuesday." Wednesday was "Wacky Wednesday." Thursday was "Thrilling Thursday," and Friday was "French Fry Friday." On Tuesday, we tried to walk everywhere on our tiptoes. It was hard and probably drove our teachers crazy. Also, I bet I had terribly tired toes by the time I was finished. On this Tiptoe Tuesday, we are going to work on time, money, pronouns, sentence writing, and fact families. All good stuff. Let's get started.

Our new story this week is called "From Seed to Plant." It is all about growing seeds. Click ThinkCentral to read the story. 

It is almost time for seeds to start growing here. Have you ever planted a seed? Here is a science experiment you can do at home to see how plants grow. You will need a sandwich size zip close bag; wet paper towel, and some seeds. Bean seeds work best.
