It's Tuesday!

Hello everyone. I hope your week has started off great. How is everything going? We are starting to work on fractions, so I am going to assign some lessons in iReady all about them. You'll see them on your assignment page. Also, here is the link for taking test on Reading Counts. Please let me know if it works for you.

Here is today's math puzzle. This is a GOOD one. Enjoy the challenge! If you don't have a printer, you can draw this one.

And finally, I just want to remind you about code.org. Our class code is WWMLMW. It is free. You can jump right in. You've done it before. It is fun. It is educational. It is awesome. I do it several times each week. I have been stuck on a problem for a month. I will get it. I just have to keep trying.

Friday! Friday! Friday!

We did it! We made it one week. We made this home learning thing work. Thanks for working hard. Together WE'VE GOT THIS! After today, you can take a two day break. But, come back Monday. I'll be here waiting! Here is today's video.

We are trying to get Reading Counts up and going so you can take some tests from home. Remember the Book Box is at my home if you want to get some new books. You can also drop off your school library books in the return bin and I will bring them back to school for you. Speaking of books, The Monster at the End of this Book is one of my very favorites. Click on it for a super fun reading.

And finally, here is a fun way to get moving while you are doing your homework.

See you all on Monday!

Hello! Hello!

I had to do today's video sooo many times.  First the camera fell.  Then I wasn't in the video at all. Next, the phone rang. Finally, I got it recorded. Today you are going to write a little story just like I did. Your story will be about planting a garden. Send me your stories. Maybe I will follow your directions when I plant my garden.

Have you checked out Mystery Science yet? I really like learning from Mystery Doug. Also, have you played any games with your new deck of cards? I'd like to hear which games you have tried. Mrs. Forbush, Jackson, and I played Salute. The instructions for this game are included in your packet. Here is a video of us playing it.

Just a reminder that the school is serving lunch and breakfast from 11:00 - 12:00. Come to the back of the school to pick those up.

And finally, here is today's math puzzle. It is a good one! I got stumped for a minute, but I kept trying and figured it out.

It's Time to Tell Time

Good morning everyone. I hope you are having a wonderful start to your day. Remember that you are amazing. Why? Because you keep doing your school work even though you are home. It isn't easy, but you are doing it. Keep it up!

Here are a couple videos that may help you, if you need it. The first is about bar graphs and the second is about telling time. Practice telling time. You can do it all day long. It isn't hard. It just takes practice.

During the month of March we were learning about animals. The San Diego Zoo has great animal cams so you can watch the animals from the comfort of your own home. Each animal also has a blog and interesting facts you can read. Just scroll down below each video. Lions, Giraffes, Rhinos, Koalas, Penguins, OH MY!!!

Here is another challenging math puzzle. They get trickier as they go. Don't give up!

March 24, 2020

Good morning and welcome to Day 2 of home learning.

Here is the adverb poster to remind you what adverbs are. Adverbs answer the questions how, when, where, how much. This adverb video may help, too.

Today's fun learning activity is Mystery Science. I love science. Here are a few of my favorites. I'll add more in a couple days.

Are Unicorns Real?
Why is the Ocean Salty?
What is the Most Dangerous Animal in the World?
How do Broken Bones Heal?
How Does Hand Sanitizer Work?

Here is another challenge math puzzle. Remember to send me a picture when you solve it. It is supposed to be a little challenging. Keep trying!

So It Begins!

Today you will be working on iStation, iReady, and Day 1 of your packet. You will also be working on one math paper. Don't forget to read. Send me an email letting me know what you are reading. I'd love to hear. I'm reading a book about Jackie Robinson. It is called 42 is Not Just a Number. I'm also taking Reading Counts tests. My goal is to read 1,000,000 words before we get back together.

Watch today's video for instructions on the activity packet.

I've included a math puzzle to challenge you. Try it. Email me a picture of your solution. Remember, don't give up if you don't solve it the first time. Keep trying. You will get it! Also, remember that you are important and smart! Have a great day.

Recognizing Ignaz Semmelweis and Handwashing

Did you know that just 150 years ago people didn't know that washing their hands would prevent germs? Even doctors didn't always wash their hands. EEK! But, Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis learned that washing your hands could help prevent sickness and even death. Remember, keep washing your hands!

Bonus Post!

You don't actually have to start doing school work on Monday when our "Home Learning" begins, but I came across something I really wanted to share with you that is so fun. Do you ever feel like you just want to draw? I love doodling! Well, one of our favorite author's has invited you to doodle with him every day. I've done it two days in a row and I can't wait for tomorrow. It is called LUNCH DOODLES with Mo Willem. He wrote the Pigeon books and Piggie and Elephant. I think you will love it too. Let me know what you think. You could always send a picture of your doodles to my email. I'd love to see them.

Just the Beginning

Welcome to the blog where you will find videos for each day and links to fun activities. I'm learning new things, just like you are. Today I learned how to put a video into a blog.

Remember to get logged into iStation and iReady. Did you get the link for the free Epic! account? I sent it to your parent's email. You will never run out of books to read and things to learn if you are exploring Epic!

Today I want to share a fun place to explore. The Cincinnati Zoo is doing daily Home Safaris each day at 1:00. The zoo will feature an animal and an activity to do each day. I watched a couple and loved it.
